Overview
Experience
Crimson Hexagon | August 2016-Present | Senior Graphic Designer
At Crimson Hexagon, I am part of a marketing team and work closely with copywriters, analysts, and digital marketers to create materials for the company. When I started in 2016, we began a small brand refresh under a number of restrictions, as well as redesigning the website. In 2018, under new team direction, we accomplished a full rebrand and redesign of the website. Responsibilities include:
Data Visualization: Analysts on the marketing team provided me with raw data or Excel/PPT/Tableau charts and tables, which I would recreate according to brand standards. My goal was to create data visualizations that were aesthetically pleasing while maintaining accuracy and data integrity.
Branding and brand management: Worked on minor brand update and website makeover in fall of 2016. In 2018, under the new CMO I was given more freedom to expand upon the brand and direct creative. Created brand guidelines with detailed information on colors, typography, PowerPoints, data visualization, guide and report templatization, and more. Managed and updated online brand guidelines via Frontify.
Infographics and illustration: We established a clean illustration style, often utilizing isometric angles to create depth and interest with bright, simple colors. Infographics were designed to be beautiful but not to overshadow the data they were presenting.
Creation of reports and guides: Working with the analysts and writers, I would design print or web-optimized PDF reports for distribution to clients and visitors to the website. These reports ranged from 10-100 pages and featured iconography, illustrations, and data visualization.
PowerPoint: Created standardized, branded PowerPoint templates and decks for company-wide use, executive team decks, CMO decks, sales decks, and client-facing decks. I worked with people in multiple departments to ensure that the decks met the needs of the various departments, and were easy to use for PowerPoint users of all levels of familiarity.
Asset and ad creation: Sharing assets were created for all reports, guides, webinars, and other programs. These typically included Google Display ads, LinkedIn ads, social media network ads, and other sizes.
Website redesign and updates: Working closely with the marketing team and consulting with other departments such as the product team, and building the site with a local external vendor, we redesigned the entire website from scratch, aiming to create a responsive and informative site about our products and company.
Intern, freelancer, and vendor direction: I have managed two design interns from MassArt, during the summer and fall of 2017. During times when we had extra work, I would collaborate and communicate with several freelance designers we contracted with. For print and web work, I would maintain communication with print vendors, UX designers, project managers and web developers to ensure consistent, collaborative work.
